The Dead Of Night Poem by Lucio Guerrero

The Dead Of Night

Rating: 4.0

Dead of night
Alive with fright
Throughout the house a sound
Like icy claws
Or frozen jaws
Coming up from the ground
Too scared to check
Hairs on my neck
Begin to slowly rise
At thee thought that
Behind my back
Watch ever present eyes
What do they want
Or why they haunt
I'll surely never know
But this I tell you now is true
Don't ever let it be just you
Alone with those who lurk below

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I originally typed and saved this as a draft of a text on a car ride home in Chicago after my little sister asked my other two siblings and I to come up with something scary. After ten minutes I had come up with this but by then all three of them had fallen asleep and I decided to just share it somewhere in the hopes someone would rate it haha
