The Dearth Of Water. Poem by Tony Adah

The Dearth Of Water.

The plastic rubber receptacles
Stood in colours of blue, red, green and yellow
Yearning for water and they sat in a truck
The taps are arid with rust
And our throats sizzling like
Lumps of Akara in oil over a hearth
We just finished election
And the taps are dry.
