The Desert Poem by Kylee Bartz

The world is so vast
But I cannot see past the barren land
The desert that is everywhere I go
I try to escape the desert
But I never can do it
I come so close and I see a better land
Only to have it vanish when I close my eyes
So perhaps it was just a mirage
And I am trapped again
In the seemingly endless world
The emptiness all around me
Engulfs me
Becomes me
Destroys me
And I keep trudging onward
Because I know no other way
And I will keep walking forward
Just a dying bloom
Trying to battle the forces of nature
Trying to battle the desert
