The Different View Poem by PJ Fleming

The Different View

The mirror tells a different story now
What once was fresh
Is now a furrowed brow;
What once was callow youth
Is one mature
And of my true devotion I am sure
‘Tis you who has endured, my heart’s desire
Whose look, kind word, example I admire
‘Tis you in whom my heart has found a home
Thus making lined reflection
Less alone
With admiration vast, I do renew
Sweet memory of when I first knew you
The beauty which first felled me is still there
The look to which no other could compare
In you I see what no one else has known
The splendour of your soul to me you’ve shown
I look through eyes of yours
And what I see
Is not some mere reflection that is me
But rather what I’ve come to know is true
That reflected back at me
Is love for you.
