The Dishwashers Poem by Randy McClave

The Dishwashers

We thank the waiters and the waitresses
Who takes our orders and sees our messes,
They promptly bring our ordered food to us
For their patrons they seemingly make a fuss.
And then with joy and fellowship,
We will always leave them with a satisfied tip.

We thank the cook on how our food was prepared
And because of our diet and health they cared,
And then before we eat we always say a prayer
As our love to God and all we then share.
And we tell our servers and management of their excellent cook,
Soon again their restaurant we will book.

We thank the manager as we leave the restaurant
As we leave behind the store front,
We rate the service and the management and the food 5 stars
And that joyful experience will someday be in their memoirs.
But, to the workers who clean and washes the dishes,
They don't get our prayers or even our good wishes.

The waiters and the waitresses await their tips
From their orders and their kitchen trips,
The cooks await their applause and the compliments
Management awaits the smiles and handshakes as presents.
The waiters and cooks and management sees the moment as a win,
While the dishwashers always waits for their shift to end.
