The Doctor's Companion Called Sarah Jane Smith Poem by Denis Martindale

The Doctor's Companion Called Sarah Jane Smith

When Sarah joined the Doctor's team,
She didn't have a clue
That sometimes she would scream and scream,
For what else could she do?
She played the damsel in distress,
Each time she went through Hell,
Yet when she smiled, she came to bless
My tender heart so well.
The Doctor always did his all
To bravely save the day,
Yet her smile was the miracle
That took my breath away.
And even now, with decades gone,
I saw her face once more,
Her smile and beauty still live on
To thrill me to the core…

Denis Martindale, for the 30th of December 2023.
