The Door Poem by Brenda Harper

The Door

Rating: 5.0

A room
off on its own,
Laughing children, throwing stones,
Teasing times, heartbreak chimes,
Lost and lonely tears.
Moments of fear, trouble minds,
dreaming through, no hope for you,
closed and alone,
frightened and not at home.
Mistreated for all to see.
Laughed, humiliated, totally.
Frighten by all, to honest to fall.
Crying shamelessly.
Hoping the impossible dream.
Wondering why it couldn't be.
Then lost totally.
No time to get away, more frightened everyday.
Lost and uncontrolled, waiting for death to make his mold.
Praying for God to see,
Wishing life was free.
Wanting to go out to,
But watching, wondering.
Missing, longing to be,
Outside the Door, where i may see.
Freedom's lights, and spirits true,
I wonder, I wonder, Do Dreams Come True!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was inspired by my childhood memories of always feeling outside, and alone. Many abused children cry out for help but no one hears them. This was the main way i dealt with the pain of what i went through and the depression that hit when i was sixteen. No one was able to take my words or thoughts. Writing was my escape from pain and helped me release that pain in a positive manner.

An excellent poem that deserves attention. The note beautifully adds to the appeal of the poem. The title is metaphoric. I give you 10/10 for the beauty of the poem and its positive tone. 'Outside the Door, where i may see. Freedom's lights, and spirits true, I wonder, I wonder, Do Dreams Come True! ' These lines are but pieces of gems.
