The Doorbell Poem by Subarna Chakraborty

The Doorbell

I used to feel a lot,
A lot of grief and pain,
Until we broke apart.
And then my world faded into utmost numbness.
I don't know what to name it.
When I see speeding cars in city lights,
I feel something is missing,
Maybe something in my heart.

I used to dream a lot,
Rush mornings and lazy days.
I heard the doorbell ring,
A busy kitchen and sunrays
Peeping through our window,
Watching flights land,
As we used to watch,
With utmost fear of abandonment you had,
Your smiling face and eyes sad.
