The Dream Poem by John Calvin Cochrane

The Dream

The Dream

Your beautiful eyes lit our
future stars.
A moonlit smile
lit future paths.
An emblazoned heart
held us safe,
as you led
me
home.

My mind
threw away a
love
now darkened,
once held
brightly in
the sky.

It crossed out stars,
and blackened
moonlit paths.
For now I know
I have lost my sight

Lit doorways'
to your heart,
now flickering in
the stormy night.

My heart
now staggers,
as I fight
a stark, and painful
consciousness
without you.
