The Drop Of A Rat Poem by Joyce Hemsley

The Drop Of A Rat

This was no act, this was a fact
I will always remember...

A mouse in the House of Commons?
That surely, should never be!
Running to the 'left' and running to the 'right'
A floating voter - obviously.

Members were shocked and bewildered.
They cringed at the event in the House
And some could not be quite certain
If the intruder was a rat or a mouse.

The pest control should be beckoned.
We all would agree with that.
Daytime or night-time, they'll answer the call
And will be there 'at the dropp of a rat'.
