The Dust Never Settles Poem by Nellie Isabelle Steward Cooper

The Dust Never Settles

Seeing not the imperceptible
Destruction of the self as a simple grace

She thought it quite likely
One could remain

An unsplitable rock
In a secret place

Else she would have waisted herself
And lived

Ceaselessly

Wind would have worn the stone
and left nothing visible
but the dust
