The Eagle's Flown Poem by Rose Falcone

The Eagle's Flown

I tried to wipe you from my mind
With all my might I’ve tried
to eradicate the thoughts of you
Yet into my dreams you continue to slide.

Every moment I feel empowered
When I feel as if I can proceed
A trace of you returns
Thought or dream will intercede.

Do I attempt to contact you
To collide against another brick wall?
All those things you said, and feelings shared
Were they worthless words all in all?

Where are you now?
Do you think of me?
Are you just biding time?
Am I supposed to know and agree?

Do you feel this pain I feel?
Or have you filled that void too?
Is all now happy in your world?
Or do you ache for me as I do for you?

Will you just show up one day?
What havoc will there be in your wake?
Will you expect me to join you at your side?
What will I be expected to forsake?

Love has found me once again
A love so sweet a love so true
Will you show up and tear it down
Or will I be strong and see it through?

What we once shared is now gone
The eagle’s flown, the curtain’s torn
The fog has lifted and it is dawn
I now see a new love’s been born
