The Emotionally Abused Poem by Esther Rowe

The Emotionally Abused

Rating: 5.0

She sat there with tears flowing down her face.
She prayed for someone who would love her for who she is.
She smiled at a friend, she laughed at a joke, she made others laugh, But inside she was tearing apart.
With faith she hoped for better, for someone to rescue her from her pain and her hurt.

She smiled daily and never made the mistake of crying so someone could see her.
She believed in her self, But her emotions were deteriorating. When she was alone she'd just fall apart.
Sometime's she'd wonder if she should give up or continue chasing life even if it gave up on her.

The emotionally abused she was.

Restless nights
Reoccuring hate, pain and failure
Repeation of words that swung to wound the body

Inside deep inside she begged for help
Inside deep inside she screamed for Love
Inside deep inside she hugged herself and she repeated, Your going to make it on your own

Inside she believed in her self when others didn't.
Inside their words of hate, their looks of scorn, their words of disgrace, their looks of failure engulfed her.

Defiance was all she ever knew
Death was all she prayed for
Dependance was her enemy
Determination was her friend

Envy lived within them
Enemies that were family
Education she hungered
Ethics she had
