The Enquirer Poem by yakubu abukari n

The Enquirer

Rating: 4.0

Today I am your newspaper man
And I will like to hear your views
On one or two issues
So spare a moment if you can

In the face of adversity
When hope is a rare commodity
Will you hold on tight?
Or more easily give up the fight?

If Goliath over David was victorious
And I put that up on my front page
Will you shout, shocked, or pass uncurious
That the mighty man had killed the small sage?

If Pharaoh had overcome Musa
So he was then declared loser
In bold print, and sold for a paltry fee
Would you patronise the enquirer, even if free?

The most fascinating of stories told
Or the many more yet to unfold
Are those that played out against all odds
That could not be foretold even by the gods

So our travails now may be the training phase
To make captivating, our story about the tough old days
The glorious end to a gloomy beginning
Then you were Joseph the slave, now you are king!
