The Escape Poem by Bryan Taplits

The Escape

The gulley wash seemed safe harbor
So I sped towards its refuge,
My heart beat fast, I prayed to last-
I hoped I shouldn't lose.
Timidly and shyly I stumbled
And hid in the hollow part
But the flare that surrounded me
Finally found me-
Twin embers that burn in my heart.
