The Evening Poem by Aakash Nengroo

The Evening

Rating: 4.3

The sun has gone down
The birds return to their nests
Happy...cheerful
There is a consistent hum
That i hear
Every evening
Or is it just my mind
Playing games

I feel a soothing breeze
Hit my face
After a long tiresome day
Comes an evening.
Of this sort

When the breeze
Seems to be coming
Straight from Eden
Pure..soothing...lively

Alas! The plight
With this precious evening
Which is one of the blessings
Accompanies a curse...
Curse of memories...
That engulfs me...
Like the night engulfs the day...
Shrouds my heart and soul
With its searing darkness

And i get ready
For a yet another sleepless night
Embracing this pain
Like a precious treasure...
For it may be a curse...
But the loyal one..
Never leaves me alone
To be crushed by my desolation
Unlike you...
Whose presence was ephemeral...
