The Existing, Unexisting Father Poem by Simon Jonathan Bulus

The Existing, Unexisting Father

The Existing, Unexisting Father

I was just a little son,
But I felt the pain
My voice could never explain.

I still hoped
For the day
I would feel his presence,
His affection and love.

He was alive,
Yet invisible.
He never left,
Yet somehow, he departed
From my heart,
My spirit,
And my soul.

He existed in body,
But not in the moments
I needed him most.

A father by blood,
A stranger by presence,
A name I carried,
But a love I barely knew.

Oh, the existing, unexisting father
Present in this world,
Yet absent in my world.
