The Eyes Poem by Mereia Namatua

The Eyes

As I opened mine eyes for the first time
Two pairs bore into mine
Shinning with love so sweet
I wanted to get lost in the deep
In a matter of seconds the eyes cried tears
Tears of blood and sweat, oh dear
It shone of hurt and pain
Oh how I wish I could take it all away
The eyes truly are the windows to the soul
The soul of my parents who are no longer in this world
I am but an orphan
Oh how I wish our times could have been longer
Treasure the eyes that once held love
Treasure the memories that are stored above
Treasure the hurt, the cries, the pain
For in this world all will experience the same
For there is no sunshine without a little rain
Tell your parents you love them everyday
For you might regret when all goes away in a day
Treasure the eyes that shone love
Treasure the eyes that are boring into yours from above
