The Eyes Of Innocence Poem by Edward Durand

The Eyes Of Innocence

I ran through dreams of hidden lands
To greener pastures of the mind
To deep-locked ancient memories
The world held little truth for me
I saw the eyes of innocence
And saw the truth enclosed within
No image, just the naked flame
Expressing freedom in a dance
I sensed a tear deep in my heart
For the world it does not dance
But follows, robot-like, with greed
How can I teach what's not in words
When I returned from inner lands
I had to live in this poor world
But what I learned was in my heart
They could not take that truth from me
