The Fall Of Night Poem by Edwin Hopper

The Fall Of Night

We've always treated each other right.
Now things are getting close to the end.
I'll stand with you against the fall of night.

We've been together when things were tight.
Things are tough now Love. We can't pretend.
We've always treated each other right.

And Love, our life has been a delight,
till now when our final minutes spend.
I'll stand with you against the fall of night.

When we're together the stars seem to ignite,
And we've still got magic to expend.
We've always treated each other right.

Love. Come on now. Don't give in to fright.
Shadows are difficult to comprehend.
I'll stand with you against the fall of night.

Love. Together we can still try and fight,
Though, I can't know what fates intend.
We've always treated each other right.
I'll stand with you against the fall of night.
