The Fault In Our Stars Poem by Amar Agarwala

The Fault In Our Stars

It is another summer's noon
The tufts of grass are few,
That part of me now empty lies
Which went away with you.

You took away the purple skies
You took the fragrant breeze,
The wind-flowers now jaded seem
And lonely look the trees.

The summer sun no brighter looks
A pallid moon lovelorn,
The glow of stars reach not my soul
My hopes now die unborn.

A sun-kissed day now empty feels
And empty feels the night,
I lie in bed thus slumber-less
Your phantom in my sight.

When wretched life drives me insane
I do visit your grave,
I carry all my loneliness
I carry my flowers brave.

Little solace you still give me
From your tomb underground,
Your ceaseless whispers talk to me
Without a single sound.

You echo that I ought to live
Sweetheart I try that too,
I wish some magic you had taught
Or left me with some clue.

Summer rains and the autumn hues
Now pass me ever slow,
Their touch of sheer melancholy
They come and then they go.

My little dreams I told you not
Warm desires a few,
Will need to wait a lifetime now
Until my time is due.

Thence let us keep inside our graves
Lost hopes and dreams of ours,
We need obey our destinies
And heed the faulty stars.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
LOVE IS STRANGE

It is like trying to hold on to sunbeams slipping through the window-pane on a sun-kissed morn. The more you try, the more it slips out of grasp. But when you make no effort to hold on to it, it gently plays on your palms.

Love is a hard game, but worth playing. Also, one needs to be lucky to find true love, but that is no guarantee that you would have it with you always. Come to think everyone wants or has a deep desire for some fairy tale love story to unfold in their lives. It is this desire that makes Facebook replete with million of pictures of arranged marriages, where the boy is down to his knees and is in every pose suggestive of love. It does make a beautiful picture, but perhaps not of true love.

True love cannot be captured on camera, it can only be captured by the loving heart. And reminisced in haunting memories that last a lifetime and more. Should you fall in love, you will know.
