The Fire Within - Poem by John Minter

you are the fire that burns deep within me
on every breath and every word I speak flames
I need a glass of water to take back everything I've said
wash down all the foolish words that burst from my mouth
now put your lips to mine and start this flame again
so that I will never forget what started this flame
