The First Kiss Poem by Alfred Ramos

The First Kiss

As I sit in my love seat
A flaming winter fire at my feet
I begin to reminisce
About that very first kiss
You led me to the back of an old flatbed truck
To this day I don’t know if it was fate or luck
Oh so soft and tender were your lips
I felt some tingling in my fingertips
I didn’t know what to do with my hands
So I gently grabbed your braided strands
And I’m probably safe in betting
It had something to do with my palms sweating
And yes it was intoxicating
Or better yet maybe I was suffocating
Unable to come up for air
A dizzy feeling of despair
Me, so young and so innocent
Going down a path I could not circumvent
Why I didn’t close my eyes
Could be the beginning of my demise
When that moment of the first kiss dies
And every kiss since then ends in good byes
