The Fourth Of July Poem by Ron Shah

The Fourth Of July

It's because of her that i know my worth
And today she was born, it's the day of her birth
This is the lucky day, July the fourth
This is the day when she came on this earth

I've not seen her since last november
But her beautiful face i still remember
I'm writing these lines underneath the shattered sky
It's sad, it's mid-night and it's the fourth of july

I'm so lonely, seems like years have passed
Since i saw her, since i saw her last
Looking at these stars i just wanna cry
It's sad, it's mid-night and it's the fourth of july

How fortunate were the days when she was near
And how i miss those days, O dear! O dear!
Ever now and then I wish I could know
Why she left, why she had to go?
Some say it's fate n you gotta live with it.
Hard times come, what's new in it.
Some say this is how it's meant to be
Some call it 'Fate' and some 'Destiny'
They say that change is the law of nature
And it holds true for every creature
But i tell them my feelings will never change
For my love for her is as constant as change
What then if she's not with me today
I'll love her tommorow as i did yesterday
She might be far and going further away
But in my heart of hearts she will always stay
Writing these lines i feel so strong
And from this point beyond nothing can go wrong
But the pain of her departure is still there
The thought kills me that 'she's not here'
And i shed tears, not exactly knowing why
It's sad, it's mid-night and it's the fourth of july
