The Game Poem by Chris Lavoie

The Game

I stand on the side lines
Watching, waiting, wanting
To stand up
But too afraid so I back down
I catch my self watching the game
Trying not to care
I quietly search for the score
Me: zero
It flows in all my thoughts
I want to stand
I want to run
Then I will be free of this guilt

But
How will I do?
Will I finish first?
or will I be disqualified before I start?

So I'll walk, not risking the truth or rushing the game
What is the truth? What is this game?

Should I wish for others to know my interest?
Without me saying or doing anything?
But what are the chances some one falling for me then?
