The Gap Between The Haves And Have Nots Poem by Francis Duggan

The Gap Between The Haves And Have Nots

The gap between the haves and the have nots so sad to say is growing ever wide
And those who live in the poor suburb must not have a god on their side
The Government and politicians in general ignore them it would seem they have taken note
That many who live in the poor suburb do not even bother to vote
Condemned by the suburb they live in and condemned by their postal address
Few born and raised in the poor suburb even bother to dream of success
Many of them homeless as teenagers their parents in jail serving time
Lured into drugs by the drug pushers and condemned to a life of crime
Their circumstance of birth is against them they were born in the wrong side of town
They only know of life's hard battle from where they live a long hike to renown
Few from where they live have become successful in life they are expected to fail
The road out of poverty suburb for many of them lead to jail
They do age quickly from the hard life a sad thing for to have to say
They even look old in their thirties and few of them live to grow old and gray.
