The Glance Poem by Tsani Jones

With a turn, she set the world on fire.
Deep brunette, seductive,
Her eyes lace on velvet,
Portal to a new dimension.

I fumbled my few necessities
And in what seemed an eon,
Saved my open drink
From the cashier's blouse.

But she, however, was on
A more cosmic mission
Setting the planets in
Motion with her smile.

I noticed the cashier's mouth
Moving from anxiety,
But I heard not a word,
For my journey had begun.

I remembered the warm
Gentle beachs of Rio,
Engaged in the warm embrace
Of Mephistopholistic passion.

Her outline against the wall,
The art only God could mold,
And the curvature sensually
Descriptive of Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel.

Within those lips of silk,
I found all of the answers
That have eternally
Eluded mankind.

Those arms of bone and flesh
Became the protective
Embrace of one thousand angels
As I lay in etheral bliss.

My thoughts wandered
Into the memories of long
Since deceased flower arrangements
And days of warm wine under cold, starry nights.

The days of healing of cold knife wounds
Exacted under heartless, loveless lovers' hands.
I amazed her with my essence of passionate dedication,
And remained in awe of her gentle divinity.

Our warm love was a figment
Of Keats and Shelley's imagination,
And my adoration burned
Hot and eternal like the flames of Hell.

My journey was coming to a
Depressing close, my heart crying
In a valkrie shreik to not comply.
Please, just one more time...

She took her purchases
And left with her burlap sack of groceries.
The bag stained red to my vision
Of my heart she carried away within it.

I stood like a fool.
My pack of Ho-Ho's,
Self medicating tub of chocolate ice cream,
And red label cigarettes, mourning my loss.

I was whole, once.
I was in love, once.
My heart gushed forth
Like waters of a mountain stream, once.

As I retreived my wallet
I realized the truth.
In a second, a fleeting lost glance,
I loved a lifetime.
