The Gods Poem by Makayla Johnson

The Gods

Rating: 5.0

The gods told me to look up,
so I looked down.
They never smote me.

The gods told me to run,
so I stood still.
They only watched.

The gods told me to be silent,
so I spoke.
They didn't hush me.

The gods told me to be afraid,
so I stood tall.
They didn't blink.

The gods told me to save a life,
so I took one.
They barely flinched.

The gods told me I was free,
so I obeyed them.
And they smirked.
