The Grapes Of Wrath Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

The Grapes Of Wrath

The grapes of wrath

With shame that mullahs caused
Am often criticized:
"Why were you against Shah? "

I lower head, listen,
On my chest, lot to say.

Then, we did as is done
In these days of Iran:
"Men, women, stand up."

Since could not read a book
In secret we read, looked.

Remember Steinbeck
And grapes of the wrath.

It was banned, therefore we
Wrapped it tight, in hiding,
And gave it to friends…

Remember the movie
Played Brando
As "Ugly American, "
It was dubbed in Iran
As "Hero, " "American."

We expelled foolishness
Of Shah, his governance
That made us U.S. pets!

We were used as carpets,
Walked on us, regardless
Of our rights, intelligence!

Yes, Mullahs' government
Is, of course, filthier…

I cannot clean dirt
Of the past government
With B. S. of today!
