Bloody machine guns killed every man they spotted
Artillery blew them to pieces
Treacherous tanks destroyed armies whole
Wave by wave the men were shot down, in this Great War
No mans land was no place to be
Barbed wire cut the men up
Craters slowed the men down
All this work just to be shot, in this Great War
Trenches were hard to make digging all day
They were muddy and wet
The perfect environment for the dreaded trench foot to creep upon the men
Rats ate the food making it hard to survive
Men were filled with boredom
There was nothing to do, in this Great War
U-Boats killed innocent civilians
They destroyed ships whole
Men screaming trying to swim in the icy water to stay alive
Dead bodies sinking down to the bottom of the sea
Staying there for eternity, in this Great War
Gas made blisters on their skin
And made them suffocate
Xylyl gas blinded them for life
O and the horrendous mustard gas that sunk low
And left a mustard taste on their tongues
So much gas, in this Great War
Planes maneuvering o so gracefully through the air
Shooting at each other without a care
Finally one goes boom, it falls to the ground without a sound
One less air plane in the air to soar
One more death, in this Great War
Cities destroyed whole by tanks and artillery
Civilians dead for no reason
Families and girlfriends that lost a loved one feel suicidal
The world’s brightest and strongest gone
A whole generation lost, in this Great War
