The Hanging Man Poem by Kevin Patrick

The Hanging Man

Did you see the hanging man?
Stuttering in public circles
He wasn't lifeless… just pensive
And doused with anxious posture

But Boy, he put on a good show
Wriggling around his tucked in collar
Arms waving a frantic fox-trot
Five bucks you could watch with popcorn

Poor fella just stuck there for all to see
Two black holes quietly pleading
Still it was almost inevitable
He was known for his... Mood swings

No one saw but everyone did
His life was quantified in schedules
Never talked or made much trouble
Now he's choked by the whole world

So, Did you see the hanging man?

Mood swings... And now so does he. This piece adressed the animal in us that for some reason inspired emperors to build coliseums so they could watch men slaughter each other in the comfort of a throne. We can be such cruel creatures.
