The Haunting Red Light Poem by Deanna Samuels

The Haunting Red Light

The haunting light was with them,
a haunting red light
a red light that would be with them,
be with them on a dangerous journey,
a journey of rescue,
a rescue of hostages.

The haunting red light was with them
their plane flew low through the night.
Destination came in sight,
landed,
rescue.

All saved but one,
returned,
returned too, with fallen comrade
the haunting red light still aglow.
