The Headlines Poem by nidhi vijay

The Headlines

Rating: 4.5

A cup of steaming coffee and the newspaper;
Its my definition of a perfect morning
As my life got more work and no time;
My coffee comes in a can and the newspaper online

Skimming through the regional one;
Makes my heart thump with pain
Stories of scams, politics and politicians;
The ones who cheat upon the common man
Maladies and affliction all around;
Gang rapes and torments in every page

I close the page out of distress and looks at my Washington daily;
Scanning through makes me feel abate;
No scams; nothing bad; it looks very green
Election news, sports updates and tech column;
I wrap up my newspaper session, my mind kindling
To find a job abroad and escape from all these problems;
Before Me and my family become subjects for tomorrow.

Alarming is the state of affairs of our country. People at the helm of power hoarding money from public funds! ! Shameful for every Indian! A powerful presentation of facts. Keep writing! Best of luck!
