The Healing Sky Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Healing Sky

Above the silent southern snow,
Where ancient winds forever blow,
A fragile veil of azure light
Still guards our world by day and night.

Yet high above Antarctica's gleam,
There drifts a wound within the stream
Of air that circles, cold and free,
Across the vast and restless sea.

Though years have passed and progress grown,
The healing sky still stands alone,
For nature writes from year to year
A changing tale we must still hear.

The sunlight's rays come rushing through,
More fierce where ozone thins from view,
And touch the waves and forests deep,
Where countless forms of life still sleep.

But hope remains in every land,
In minds that learn and hearts that stand.
The world once joined with common aim,
And answered science's earnest claim.

The harmful chemicals declined,
Through human will and humankind.
A promise made, a path begun,
Beneath the moon, beneath the sun.

So let us watch the heavens high,
And cherish every living sky.
For Earth's blue shield, though worn and thin,
Still holds the precious world within.

And as the stars adorn the night,
We'll guard this gift with all our might.
So future generations may see
A sky restored above the sea.

For every child and bird in flight,
For every dawn of golden light,
May wisdom guide what we pursue,
And keep the healing sky so blue.
