The Heart Poem by Lilyann Monahan

The Heart

Rating: 4.0

2010
For the first time in my life, right from the very start,
I heard a man sing my song, with language from the heart.
Poetry at its best, the sweetest tone to hear, I learned my lessons one by one, he heard my years of fear.
He wrote each word so carefully, with nothing else to gain. He gave me hope, he gave me life, and took away my pain.
My soul was pierced, it writhed agony, how blessed was the day.
That February morning, that poem did find me.
