The Heart Opens And Closes Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Heart Opens And Closes

The heart opens and closes.
A rose garden will wither and die,
But only if we neglect it,
While a thorny, lifeless plant will persist,
But only if we ignore it,
Instead of reviving and refreshing,
The rose garden, to bring it back to life.
How can we make the garden
radiate,
With divine fragrance once more?
Reviving the garden from its current state,
Is not impossible, if we do not neglect it.
It still exists, though in a withered state.
Be a good gardener; use your art and skills,
To restore the garden to its healthy state,
As it was when divine hands had it laid before,
Apply your intellect and effective methods,
Such that the garden can reclaim its lost glory,
As long as life endures, Spring may always
be its season.
