The Heart's Sole Devotion:
As long as worldly desires—
appetites, cravings, fleeting lusts—
find shelter within the heart,
the Love of the Almighty cannot enter.
No soul can serve two masters,
nor walk two diverging paths at once.
He who claims to harbor both—
love of the fleeting and Love Divine—
is but a deceiver unto himself.
Yet the Lovers and Beloveds of Allah
tread this earth as if on water,
unmoved by its passing mirage.
Though the riches of the cosmos
are laid before their feet,
they do not barter the eternal for the transient,
nor trade the Real for illusion.
They have dyed the threads of worldly love
in the hues of the Divine,
so that all affections flow back to Him.
For they know well—
two loves cannot rule a single heart.
All lesser longings dissolve
into the ocean of Divine yearning,
washed away by its ceaseless tide.
In the silence of their souls, they nurture this love—
not with words, nor with sound,
but with remembrance beyond speech,
a zikr needing no tongue,
only the echo of His presence
beating within the chambers of their being.
Thus, their hearts become the dwelling place
of the One, the Eternal, the Source of all Love.
