The Height Of It All Poem by James Darwin Smith II

The Height Of It All

The height of it all
So high and supreme
Wanting all the moments
And everything
Below it and in-between

From the good to the bad
I will cherish and endure it all
Always willing to rise then fall
Just to make sure
Everything will work itself
Beautifully in the end

Scratching and crawling
Fighting in its sacred worth
Unlimited value
Even if it currently
Makes me feel poor
Unworthy and cold

There is a future
A bright one in fact
Can feel it deeply within
And after it comes
There is no going back

Upward and forward
To be seen beyond these flaws
Is to be truly loved
Not for just a brief moment
But beyond
Anything that I
Have experienced before

Someday this body
Will be inside out
And then
Certain eyes can
Portal itself deep within this soul

Then for me
The true endurance of love
Will be more
Than just a metaphor

No desperation
Just endurance
Everything will be worth it
When all is said and done
The height of it all, endless
Up and down and all around

Yet, still somehow
There is so much more
Beyond my own control
