The Hollow Poem by Jennifer Cramer

The Hollow

She has the smile of the morning sun
Laughter of a bird’s song
Eyes blank as darkness
That the sun never quite reaches
Bringing the light of happiness.
In this cage
She has hidden tears
That keeps a secret
For what seems a hundred years
With a loving heart
Bleeding with pain
Of dreams of flying away.
To a place that feels like home
Where her eyes will glisten
With the joy of the breeze
That ripples feathers
