The Honking Syndrome Poem by Piyush Meshram

The Honking Syndrome

I being a walker, I prefer my pace
In the so course, I've my deserving space

Just to trail there, pedestrians prefer a defending wear
A step ahead, and appears a creature to dare

Of varying width, a dash to rage
I am in the middle, the introspection makes me to the page

An unusual understanding brought that fleet to a steady whirl
Like a guy, to a glimpse of a girl

That hunch of mine, to show a go
Followed by the notion, was it my oversight for that fro

Sigh with relief, that I made my way
With the odd being in favour, else side I would have been to clay

Usual happening, lead to content of the day
The honking syndrome, be watchful else the next moment might go away

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem captures the relatable and often chaotic experience of crossing a busy road, particularly the fleeting moment when you're caught in the middle of traffic and someone approaches from the opposite side. That brief confusion whether to stand still or dash to either side mirrors the unpredictability of urban life itself, where every step counts, and hesitation can make all the difference.
