The Horizon Poem by Lone Dog

The Horizon

I'd like to go
Where the sky meets the sea;
To the source of the blazing
Sunset's glow;
To the land that's bathed
In a flood of hues
And marbled by tufts
Of distant clouds.

I'd like to go
To that special place
Where the sky
Melts into the sea;
To that secret world
That's vast and wide
That's always eluded me;
To that far off ledge;
That once-feared edge
Where ships seem
To sink in the deep;
To that narrow wedge
That lures me on
Like a magnet
Into its flaming jaws.

I'd like to go
To that special place
Where the sky
And the sea are one;
And journey into
Its timeless realm
Where a day
Is never done.

Yes, I'd like to go
To that secret line
Where the sky
Melts into the sea;
But whene'er I try
Approach it,
It runs away from me.
