The Hunter Poem by Joelle Johnson

The Hunter

I can still see your face,
But I know that it's not there.
I pray that you'll come home,
Returning from nowhere.

I didn't know whether to smile or cry,
When I knew I didn't say goodbye.

It's hard to miss you this much,
While your words run through my head.
I had already fallen in love,
Before I found out you were dead.

I didn't know whether to smile or cry,
When I knew I didn't say goodbye.

Another voice without an owner,
Does that make it real?
You've been lost to the world,
But these scars, one day, they'll heal.

I didn't know whether to smile or cry,
When I knew I didn't say goodbye.

I've fallen time and time again,
But you weren't there to see,
I'd scream your name a thousand times,
To show what you mean to me.

I didn't know whether to smile or cry,
When I knew I didn't say goodbye.
