The Inevitable Poem by Ibn Ali

The Inevitable

Don't worry yourself with grief from thoughts of me
I've already healed
I've already thought
I've already fought
And I'm tired
I waged a war of hearts and minds and lost
I'm ready to leave
I'm already at the door
My heart's already gone
Outside
Cautious steps
Fleet footed
Waiting for that call that begs me not to flee
It never came
Right overtakes the left
Fighting that final glance
And I've prepared
Look forward
Half turning at the neck
And yet
I dig deep enough to find the strenght
I'll leave you there
Not everything in life is based on love
You act as if it was
Maybe if it were
I would not have left
Then why am I not here
