The Jailed Bird Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

The Jailed Bird

Illegal lust,
With the muse of the jailed bird;
In question!
As the villagers came around to watch the scene.

Brain drain!
Physically and emotionally drained;
Ball-playing!
Noticed and love;
But, you are now under the chains of hatred.

The jailed bird!
With animated gestering and the vocals of the people;
Sublime cross!
Characteristic to the muse of the villagers around.

The jailed bird!
Regrettable;
To bank your hopes for an imporved outcome;
With the traditional laws of the land,
Under the belt of the court.
