The King And Empress Are Apart Poem by C.S. Keskuela

The King And Empress Are Apart

i pretend to be happy
while you pretend that it's true
and that you are happy too

the king and empress
are apart

i pretend i don't want you
while you pretend not to care
both in denial of the reality that is there
neither of us to be the first to share

the king and empress
are apart

both fighting these internal wars
to only do what is 'right'
my battle is all but over
(I accept)
but yours is just begun
(you still deny)

the king and empress
are apart
