The Knight Poem by Pauline Waweru

The Knight

You are ready to love,
And ready to love back too.

Then along comes a man who pleases you.
He makes you smile,
He makes you happy,
With him you feel complete.

You make him happy, so he says.
You declare him your knight, your love.
You call him your love.
He calls you my love.

As time goes by things change.
He is not what you thought he was.
You are hurt. You are sad.
And you are smart, very smart.

You walk away head held high,
A lesson well learnt.
But with a bruised heart.
And you know time will heal the bruises.

You smile and giggle,
Finally you have realised that
He was not a knight in shining armour
But just a man wrapped in tin foil! !
