The Lady In The Lake Poem by DAVID TERRY

The Lady In The Lake

Before any other
Before mother or brother
Before one another
There was always only you

In you there was radiance
In you I felt romance
In you love could stand a chance
Because there was only you

For you I had long pined
For you my heart was resigned
For you love will always remind
Of you and only you

Until I felt the end of rope
Until I dreamt with you elope
Until at last I gave up hope
Of loving only you

And now each day is but a chore
And now I stand on distant shore
And now I will feel forevermore
This love for only you
