The Last Childish Thing Poem by Minnie Gehrig

The Last Childish Thing

its not that you lied...
or became preternaturally altered
that made you wraith like
its the absence of your smile...

n im cold love...
n tired of saying i miss you...
n batting my eyelashes
n wearing my best jeans.....

bury me now..
in the tears our love has bought
with genuine misunderstandings...
lay beside me the marrading cutlass of truth
that allows no fair tale endings....

n lay me a kiss on the cheek...
as the last childish n frivoulous thing
i have yet to let go of
