The Last Dance Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Last Dance

Rating: 5.0

A wandering gaze across the field
She caught his roaming eye
Casual friendship she wanted at first
Later, quiet talk - she wouldn’t pry

She thought she’d seen him once before
Around her vast neighborhood
He was handsome and so very strong
And how wonderfully tall he stood

There was something, oh what was it?
That made him different from the rest
A gentle nod of his massive head
A rugged style she found was the best

The music was the summer breeze
With soft loftiness of the clouds
She watched him shyly from afar
For she too was extremely proud

She slowly walked a little closer
Deciding she would take a chance
If her life went as she hoped it would
For him she'd have the last dance!
