The Last Goodbye Poem by Samantha Meyrick

The Last Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

Be still my aching heart
as I dry away my tears
this pain doesn't seem to lessen
as I pass along the years.
These feelings overwhelm me
I wish it wasn't so,
I still can't comprehend the reason
why you had to go.
Just a year ago today
I carried you down that aisle.
I stood and said my last goodbye,
stayed with you there a while.
Now you sit upon my shelf
in your pot of wood
wishing to hold you again,
if only that I could.

It is very hard to say good bye. When we lose the people we love, it most times takes time for the heart to heal. Nice poem.

The pain of irreplaceable loss occasioned by death of loved is aptly captured in the poem. A sad story expertly brought forth from the heart with insight. May you find enough fortitude to bear the loss. Thanks for sharing Samantha.
